Wewoka resident pleads guilty to federal firearm charge

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has reported that Demontrae Davion Rogers, a 20-year-old resident of Wewoka, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number. This crime carries a potential penalty of up to ten years in prison and a fine reaching $10,000.

According to the indictment, on April 2, 2024, Rogers was found to have knowingly and unlawfully possessed a semi-automatic pistol with its serial number or other required identification altered or removed.

The charge is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in collaboration with the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Rogers’ plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered.

The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other statutory factors.

Rogers is currently held in custody by the United States Marshals Service as he awaits sentencing.
