U.S. District Judge John D. Russell has sentenced Nicholas Jarrod Weeden, 43, for two counts of assault in Indian Country. The charges include Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm and Assault of an Intimate/Dating Partner by Strangling and Suffocating. Weeden received a sentence of 115 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Court documents reveal that the incident occurred in April 2024 when Weeden visited his ex-girlfriend’s residence. An argument ensued during which Weeden strangled her, struck her head against the wall and door, and assaulted her with a wooden club. The victim managed to escape and contact emergency services.

Weeden is identified as a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and will remain in custody until his transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI along with the Tulsa Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stacey Todd and Melissa Weems handled the prosecution.
