A Tulsa man, Raymond Thomas McCrary, 51, has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge John D. Russell also ordered that McCrary serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

According to authorities, in 2025 Tulsa Police responded to a call about an individual matching McCrary’s description who was reported to have fired a gun. Upon arrival, officers found several shell casings around his residence. A search warrant executed at the home led police to discover a loaded firearm in McCrary’s bedroom. During questioning, McCrary admitted ownership of the firearm and confirmed he had discharged it at his house.

Court documents reveal that McCrary was previously convicted in state court for two counts of second-degree robbery in 2022. He received a five-year suspended sentence and was legally prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition due to this conviction.

McCrary is expected to remain in custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation involved the Tulsa Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alicia Hockenbury.

U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced the sentencing.
