A Tulsa man with a history of armed robbery convictions has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for possessing a loaded firearm, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
Ramsey Nathaniel Hogan, 60, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby after being found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. In addition to the 60-month prison term, Hogan will serve three years of supervised release.
Authorities reported that Hogan was arrested nine months after his release from federal prison when United States Marshals executed an outstanding warrant for violating the terms of his supervised release. During the arrest, marshals discovered a loaded firearm in his waistband.
Court documents indicate that between 2001 and 2005, Hogan was convicted of four felonies involving firearms. In 2005, he pleaded guilty to brandishing a firearm during robberies at an auto parts store and a video store.
Hogan is currently in custody and will be transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Marshal Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica Wright and Mike Flesher prosecuted the case.
