Seminole County man pleads guilty to assault causing serious injury

A Seminole County resident has pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Steven Duane Stone, 48, of Seminole, Oklahoma, admitted to one count of assault after being indicted for an incident that occurred on April 2, 2025. Prosecutors said Stone assaulted a victim within the boundaries of the Seminole Nation Reservation in Seminole County.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Seminole Lighthorse Police.

The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson in federal court in Muskogee. The judge ordered a presentence investigation report before sentencing is determined.

Stone remains free on bond under release conditions as he awaits sentencing. The final sentence will be set by a U.S. District Court Judge after consideration of federal guidelines and other legal factors.
