Sapulpa resident pleads guilty to illegal firearm and ammunition possession

Bandy Jay Linam, a 47-year-old resident of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Apr. 20 to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address gun-related offenses in eastern Oklahoma. Linam faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for possessing a .22 caliber revolver and nine rounds of .22 caliber ammunition after having been previously convicted of a felony offense.

According to the press release, Linam was charged following an investigation conducted by the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Honorable D. Edward Snow, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted Linam’s plea and ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after consideration of federal guidelines and statutory factors. Linam has been released on bond with conditions pending sentencing.
