Andrew Tyler Blankenship, a 39-year-old resident of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for possessing ammunition after being convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Blankenship pleaded guilty to the charge on November 10, 2025. Authorities said that on July 24, 2024, following his conviction for battery (domestic violence) in Putnam County, Florida, he knowingly possessed eight rounds of ammunition despite being aware of his prior conviction.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Sallisaw Police Department.
Senior District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Blankenship will remain in U.S. Marshals Service custody until he is transferred to a Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence, which does not allow parole.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan E. Soverly and Lewis Reagan prosecuted the case.
