A Pryor, Oklahoma resident has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Michael Jason Sanders, 44, admitted guilt to one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to the indictment, Sanders knowingly possessed two semi-automatic pistols and 96 rounds of ammunition on May 5, 2025. At the time, he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.
The case resulted from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Judge Snow ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Sanders’ sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Sanders will remain in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
