Jerry Jason Rice, a 64-year-old resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Rice admitted to one count of Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime. This offense carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
According to the indictment, on January 18, 2025, Rice possessed a .38 Special caliber revolver while also having fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
The case resulted from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Okmulgee Police Department.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Rice’s plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed.
A U.S. District Court Judge will decide on Rice’s sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant factors.
Rice will remain in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing is complete.
