An Oklahoma City couple has been sentenced to a combined 16 years in federal prison following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of 28 firearms, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
According to information from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Michael Dennis Miller, 46, received an 84-month sentence for being a felon in possession of firearms and for his role in a drug conspiracy. His codefendant, Sarah Jo Miller, 34, was sentenced earlier to 108 months on similar charges. Both sentences include three years of supervised release after incarceration.
Court documents indicate that on September 23, 2024, an officer from the Union City Police Department stopped a vehicle driven by Sarah Miller with Michael Miller as a passenger. Neither had a valid driver’s license at the time. The vehicle was impounded and searched by law enforcement officers, who found the firearms along with approximately 87 grams of fentanyl and 41 grams of methamphetamine.
Records show both defendants have prior felony convictions in Oklahoma County District Court. Sarah Miller’s history includes unauthorized use of a vehicle and several drug-related offenses across two cases. Michael Miller’s previous convictions involve endangering others while fleeing police as well as multiple property crimes.
Both pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and being felons in possession of firearms before their sentencing hearings.
Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti presided over both sentencings and emphasized “the seriousness of the offenses and the criminal histories of the defendants.”
The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations and the Union City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Hoch prosecuted the case.
