Christian Ismael Soto Retamosa, a 35-year-old registered nurse from Oklahoma City, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

The case began in March 2024 when the messaging app Kik alerted law enforcement about a user distributing videos containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The FBI’s investigation revealed that Retamosa was exchanging CSAM with others, including Robert John May III, a former South Carolina state representative. May III was prosecuted separately in South Carolina and recently received a 17-year federal prison sentence for distributing child pornography.

On February 3, 2026, Retamosa admitted in court that he knowingly possessed several electronic devices containing CSAM, including images of prepubescent children.

Retamosa could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing.

The investigation involved the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office, Homeland Security Investigations offices in Columbia, South Carolina and Oklahoma City, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in South Carolina. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bow Bottomly is prosecuting the case.
