Randall Joseph Williams, a 56-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm while subject to protective orders. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

On April 12, 2025, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a disturbance at a residence involving a firearm. Officers discovered that Williams had threatened several individuals, including family members, while in possession of the weapon. After speaking with police and allowing them to search his vehicle, officers found a firearm inside. Records indicate that Williams was under multiple protective orders at the time, including one from Oklahoma County District Court stating he posed a credible threat to the safety of a child and was prohibited from having firearms.

A federal Grand Jury indicted Williams on May 20, 2025, for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty on June 18, 2025, admitting he had possessed the weapon despite an active protective order against him.

U.S. District Judge Patrick R. Wyrick sentenced Williams on November 24, 2025, to serve over three years in prison followed by two years of supervised release. Judge Wyrick stated that the sentence reflected “the need to protect the public, promote respect for the law, and deter future criminal conduct by Williams.”

The case resulted from an investigation conducted by both the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary E. Walters prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America (OTBA), which is designed to address illegal immigration issues and combat violent crime nationwide through coordinated efforts by the Department of Justice and other agencies. The case also falls under “Operation 922,” which focuses on prosecuting federal crimes related to domestic violence within the Western District of Oklahoma.

Additional details can be found in public court filings.
