Keith Terrell Thompson, a 27-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for his involvement in a firearms trafficking conspiracy and illegal possession of drugs and a machinegun. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Authorities reported that on January 17, 2024, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department executed a search warrant at Thompson’s home. During the search, police found several firearms, controlled substances including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, nearly $10,000 in cash, and a machinegun conversion device (MCD). MCDs are illegal under federal law because they can convert semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic machineguns.
Thompson was arrested on January 29, 2024, at another apartment where police executed a second search warrant. There they recovered two stolen firearms, more controlled substances, and over $10,000 in cash.
On March 11, 2025, Thompson was formally charged with multiple offenses including firearms trafficking conspiracy and possession of drugs with intent to distribute. He pleaded guilty on March 20, 2025. According to court records, Thompson admitted he conspired to traffic firearms and intended to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine. He also acknowledged possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug distribution and knowingly possessing an MCD.
At the sentencing hearing held on September 25, 2025, Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti imposed a sentence of 108 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Judge DeGiusti commented on the gravity of the offenses during sentencing.
“This case is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Oklahoma City Police Department,” said U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew E. Davis prosecuted the case.
