Attorney General Gentner Drummond has issued a statement regarding the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board’s recent decision to deny clemency for Kendrick Simpson, who was convicted of murder.

Simpson received a death sentence for his involvement in the 2006 drive-by shootings that resulted in the deaths of Glen Palmer and Anthony Jones in Oklahoma City. According to authorities, after committing the murders, Simpson threatened his accomplices and tried to arrange for the killing of the only surviving witness. Before these events, he had also carried out an armed home-invasion robbery where he shot a business owner.

Drummond commented on the board’s decision by stating: “This ruthless and violent killer hunted and executed his victims without remorse. I commend the Pardon and Parole Board for rejecting clemency today. The victims’ families will finally see justice when the death sentence is carried out on Feb. 12.”
