Okemah man pleads guilty to felony assault with dangerous weapon

A 26-year-old Okemah resident, Matias Noah Ramirez, has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the plea on December 9, 2025.

According to the indictment, Ramirez assaulted a victim on August 17, 2025, by throwing boiling water onto the victim’s back. Investigators reported that this act caused severe burns.

The incident took place in Hughes County, within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation in eastern Oklahoma. The case was investigated by multiple agencies: the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department, and the Okemah Police Department.

Ramirez faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Ramirez’s guilty plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and statutory factors.

Ramirez is being held by the United States Marshals Service until sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Morgan Muzljakovich prosecuted the case.
