North Carolina man pleads guilty in Oklahoma federal drug distribution case

Samy Zrida, a 43-year-old resident of Taylorsville, North Carolina, has pleaded guilty to federal drug distribution charges in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Zrida admitted to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison and a potential fine of up to $10 million.

According to the indictment, on January 28, 2025, Zrida knowingly possessed at least 500 grams of methamphetamine and at least 5 kilograms of cocaine with the intention to distribute both substances. These are classified as Schedule II controlled substances under federal law.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Zrida’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and statutory factors.

Zrida remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard J. Lorenz.
