Anthony Lynn Brewer, a 67-year-old resident of Warner, Oklahoma, has been sentenced for federal drug and firearm offenses. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Brewer received a 30-month prison sentence for one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and an additional 12 months for simple possession of methamphetamine. These sentences will be served concurrently.
The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On May 29, 2024, during a traffic stop, authorities found Brewer with a shotgun and methamphetamine. At that time, he had already been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.
Brewer pleaded guilty to the charges on October 4, 2024. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The initiative emphasizes building trust within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
Chief U.S. District Judge Eric F. Melgren presided over the hearing in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas by assignment. Brewer will remain in custody with the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the United States in this case.
