Murray County man pleads guilty to illegal firearm possession

Leran Ortiz Pittman, a 41-year-old resident of Davis, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The offense carries a maximum penalty of fifteen years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

According to the indictment, Pittman knowingly possessed a semi-automatic pistol on January 7, 2025. At the time, he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The case resulted from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Davis Police Department.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Pittman’s plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Pittman’s sentence after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other relevant statutory factors.

Pittman is currently held by the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
