A Mexican national with a history of repeated removals from the United States was sentenced in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for unlawful reentry. U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby handed down a 37-month prison sentence to Oscar Palacios Castorena, 34, followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court records, Palacios Castorena has a significant criminal record in the United States. In 2010, he was convicted of drug conspiracy in the Northern District of Oklahoma and received a 30-month prison sentence. Two years later, he was again convicted for drug conspiracy and unlawful reentry in the Western District of Texas and sentenced to 45 months in prison.
In July 2025, state court records indicate that Palacios Castorena pleaded guilty to domestic abuse committed in the presence of a minor. He initially received a one-year suspended sentence; however, this was revoked after his arrest on charges related to vehicle theft. During booking for that offense, authorities determined that he was unlawfully present in the country. Records show that Palacios Castorena had previously been removed from the United States in 2011, 2012, and 2015.
Palacios Castorena will remain in custody until his transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons and is expected to face removal proceedings upon completion of his sentence.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michele Hulgaard.
