Mexican national sentenced for unlawful reentry in eastern Oklahoma

Mariano Gabriel-Gabriel, a 28-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to time served for unlawful reentry into the United States. The sentencing took place in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Gabriel-Gabriel, also known as Mariana Gabriel or Gabriel Mariano, had been residing unlawfully in LeFlore County, Oklahoma. He pleaded guilty on August 11, 2025. According to investigators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, Gabriel-Gabriel was found in the country on June 30, 2025 without permission after previously being removed on May 11, 2017.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to use all available resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations. It combines efforts from programs such as the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Cornell represented the government during proceedings.
