Jorge Alberto Mejia Rodriguez, also known as Alberto Mejia and Jorge Mejia, was sentenced to time served for one count of unlawful reentry of a removed alien, according to an April 7 announcement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address illegal immigration and related offenses. Rodriguez, a 45-year-old Mexican national who was unlawfully present in Bryan County, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on January 21 to entering the United States without permission after having been previously removed twice.
Investigators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined that Rodriguez was found in the country on November 17, 2025. Authorities said he had not obtained express consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission following his removals on September 27, 2018, and August 23, 2014.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to use all resources available within the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect communities from violent crime perpetrators.
Senior Judge Ronald A. White presided over Rodriguez’s sentencing hearing in federal district court. Assistant U.S. Attorney Edith A. Singer represented the government during proceedings.
