A Mexican national living in Oklahoma City was sentenced on Apr. 7 after being arrested in Owasso for attempting to meet a minor child for sex, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson said.
U.S. District Judge William P. Johnson sentenced Jose Luis Granados Baltazar, 33, to 60 months imprisonment and lifetime supervised release for Attempted Receipt of Child Pornography and Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien. After serving his sentence, Granados Baltazar is expected to face removal proceedings.
According to the announcement, Granados Baltazar began communicating via Facebook in May 2025 with someone he believed was a 13-year-old child. The person was actually an undercover police officer. Over several days, he discussed sexual topics with the officer, sent a photograph of his penis, requested sexually explicit photographs from the purported minor, and arranged to meet for sex. He was detained when he arrived at the agreed location in Owasso.
During booking into jail, law enforcement determined that Granados Baltazar had previously been removed from the United States in 2022.
The case was investigated by the Owasso Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan E. Michel.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, local and tribal agencies.
