Santos Reyes-Garcia, a 37-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry into the United States. The announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Reyes-Garcia faces a potential sentence of up to two years in prison and a fine that could reach $250,000.

The investigation leading to this charge was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. According to the indictment, Reyes-Garcia was discovered in the United States on May 5, 2025, after having been previously deported. He did not have the required consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.

This case is part of “Operation Take Back America,” an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation integrates resources from various Department of Justice programs, including the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Reyes-Garcia’s plea and has ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will later determine his sentence based on federal sentencing guidelines and other legal factors.

Reyes-Garcia remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service as he awaits sentencing. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen.
