On May 23, 2025, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Ivone Monforte Leal, also known as Yvonne Monforte and Ivonne Monforte Stefany, pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Leal, a 34-year-old Mexican national residing unlawfully in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, faces up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The charge stems from an investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division alongside the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office. According to the indictment, Leal was found in the United States on March 26, 2025, after being previously removed twice without obtaining permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America. This initiative uses resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations. It involves efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Leal’s plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine her sentence based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Leal remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing occurs. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen represented the United States in this case.
