The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Angel Urbina-Ramirez, a 53-year-old Mexican national unlawfully present in Poteau, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a removed alien. This offense carries a potential sentence of up to ten years imprisonment and a fine not exceeding $250,000.

The charge is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. According to the indictment, Urbina-Ramirez was found in the United States on June 13, 2025, after being previously removed on January 30, 2018. He had not obtained permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. The operation utilizes resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Urbina-Ramirez’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine his sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Until sentencing, Urbina-Ramirez will remain in custody with the United States Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen represented the United States in this case.
