Jorge Alberto Mejia Rodriguez, also known as Alberto Mejia and Jorge Mejia, has pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry after being previously removed from the United States. The 44-year-old Mexican national was residing in Bryan County, Oklahoma, without legal status.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma stated that Rodriguez faces up to two years in prison and a possible fine of up to $250,000. The charge resulted from an investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
According to the indictment, Rodriguez was found in the United States on November 17, 2025, after having been removed on August 23, 2014, and again on September 27, 2018. He did not obtain permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission before returning.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combating transnational criminal organizations.
“The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.”
A sentencing decision will be made by a U.S. District Court Judge who will review federal guidelines and statutory factors before determining any penalties. Rodriguez remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Edith A. Singer and Jacob R. Parker are representing the government in this case.
