Chance Allen Cathey, a 36-year-old resident of Tom, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Mar. 16 to one count of transportation of a stolen vehicle, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The case is significant as it involves the interstate transport of a stolen motor vehicle, which carries serious legal consequences. Cathey faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for his actions.

According to the indictment, Cathey transported a stolen vehicle from Oklahoma to Arkansas on December 26, 2023, knowing that the vehicle was stolen. The investigation into the incident was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Arkansas State Police, and Little River County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas.

Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Cathey’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.

Cathey remains in custody while awaiting sentencing.
