A Mannford resident, Gary Syd Goldberg, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for possession of child pornography. U.S. District Judge Eric F. Melgren also ordered that the 77-year-old will undergo ten years of supervised release after serving his sentence. Additionally, Goldberg must register as a sex offender upon release.

The case originated in October 2023 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip about an image uploaded to an artificial intelligence image generator platform. The investigation revealed that Goldberg was responsible for uploading the image depicting child sexual abuse. Authorities executed a search warrant at his residence, seizing multiple electronic devices. During questioning, Goldberg confessed to possessing hundreds of images of child pornography and admitted to viewing such material daily over the past 24 years.

Court records indicate that Goldberg previously pled guilty in 2001 to receipt of child pornography through the mail and served an 18-month prison sentence. He remains in custody awaiting transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation was conducted by the Mannford Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mallory Richard and Ashley Robert prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The project aims to coordinate federal, state, and local resources to apprehend offenders and rescue victims more effectively.
