Mark Verron Callshim, Jr., 38, of Tulsa, was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for his role in a 2021 armed robbery at a convenience store in Tulsa. U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill ordered Callshim to serve 184 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. This sentence will run consecutively to his existing 20-year state sentence for aggravated assault and battery.

A federal jury convicted Callshim in September 2025 on charges of Robbery in Indian Country and Carrying, Using, and Brandishing a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence. Evidence presented at trial included surveillance video showing two men arriving at the store in a blue vehicle. One man, later identified as Callshim, wore a black hoodie with “savage” written on it, a Cleveland Indians hat, and had visible neck and hand tattoos. Both suspects pointed guns at the cashier during the robbery before fleeing the scene; one fired a shot at the building as they left.

Tulsa Police responded quickly after receiving a 911 call from the cashier. Officers used descriptions from surveillance footage to alert others about the suspects and their vehicle. A citizen reported seeing someone abandon the blue car about a mile away from the store. The car had been reported stolen days earlier; police obtained consent from its owner to search it and found evidence including a partially smoked cigarette.

Detectives linked Callshim to the crime through an internal tip sheet circulated within the Tulsa Police Department as well as through his tattoos, shoes, and DNA recovered from items inside the stolen vehicle. Court records show that Callshim has previous convictions for crimes such as assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of controlled substances, eluding an officer, and first-degree robbery.

The second suspect involved remains unidentified. Authorities encourage anyone with information to submit tips via https://tips.fbi.gov/home or by calling 405-290-7770. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Tulsa Crime Stoppers online or by calling 918-596-2677.

Callshim is identified as a member of the Ponca Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma and will remain in custody until he is transferred to federal prison. The case was investigated by both the FBI and Tulsa Police Department, with prosecution handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mike Flesher and John Brasher.
