Latimer County man pleads guilty to aggravated sexual abuse

Garret James Walkos, a 25-year-old resident of Red Oak, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a minor in Indian Country. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement on May 29, 2025. This offense carries a potential sentence of thirty years to life in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

The indictment stated that Walkos engaged in sexual acts with a minor under the age of 12 between June 2023 and March 2024. The crime took place in Latimer County within the Choctaw Nation Reservation, which is part of the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation alongside Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Criminal Investigations. U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Walkos’ plea and has ordered a presentence investigation report.

The final sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Until then, Walkos will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service.
