Corey Jones, a 48-year-old inmate from New York, has received an additional 46-month federal prison sentence for threatening a federal law enforcement officer at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Court records show that on March 25, 2025, Jones threatened to stab and murder a prison guard while serving time at the facility. At the time of this incident, Jones was already in federal custody due to previous convictions for assaulting federal officers in both the Eastern District of New York and the Northern District of Illinois.
A federal grand jury indicted Jones on April 16, 2025, for threatening a federal law enforcement officer. He pleaded guilty on September 4, 2025, admitting he had threatened to assault and murder the officer by stabbing him.
During the sentencing hearing held on February 18, 2026, U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman ordered that Jones’s new sentence would run consecutively with his existing sentences. Judge Dishman highlighted Jones’s repeated criminal conduct while incarcerated—including two prior assaults against federal officers and several custodial infractions—and stressed “the need to protect the public from further crimes by Jones.”
The case was investigated by the Special Investigative Service of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale.
