Alex Eduardo Turcios-Brizuela, a 42-year-old Honduran national, was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for unlawful reentry after removal. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Turcios-Brizuela, who also used the names Alex Turcior Brizaela and Alex Turcios, was found unlawfully present in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He pleaded guilty on June 26, 2025. According to investigators from U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, he had been previously removed from the United States twice in February and March of 2009 but returned without obtaining consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aiming to address illegal immigration and combat organized crime through cooperation between several agencies including Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III presided over the sentencing hearing. Turcios-Brizuela will stay in custody with the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence without parole.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Cornell prosecuted the case.
