Henryetta man pleads guilty to methamphetamine distribution charge

A Henryetta resident has pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Michael Wayne Wasson, also known as Pops, age 64, entered a guilty plea to one count of felony information for distribution of methamphetamine. The offense carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.

Prosecutors stated that on or about October 19, 2023, Wasson knowingly and willfully distributed a substance containing methamphetamine, which is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Wasson’s plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and statutory factors.

Wasson remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
