Matthew Wayne Wasson, a 31-year-old resident of Henryetta, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Wasson entered his plea to one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine. This offense carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison and could result in up to life imprisonment as well as a $10 million fine.
According to the indictment, on October 3, 2024, Wasson knowingly distributed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, which is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Judge Robertson ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed before sentencing.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Wasson’s sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors. Until sentencing is finalized, Wasson will remain in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service.
