Abraham Suy Suar, a 35-year-old Guatemalan national, was sentenced to time served for unlawful reentry of a removed alien, according to an April 9 announcement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address illegal immigration and enforce existing laws regarding reentry after removal. Suy Suar was found in Bryan County, Oklahoma without legal status after having been previously removed from the United States on September 23, 2014.
Investigators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined that Suy Suar had not obtained consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission following his earlier removal. He pleaded guilty in federal district court on February 2, 2026.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and target cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.
Senior Judge Ronald A. White presided over the sentencing hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the government during proceedings.
