Carlos Arturo Cahuex-Martinez, a 45-year-old Guatemalan national residing unlawfully in Wagoner, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a removed alien. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the plea, which carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. According to the indictment, Cahuex-Martinez was found in the United States on July 22, 2025, without obtaining permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission after having been previously removed on three separate occasions: July 3, 2018; November 13, 2018; and January 26, 2022.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to use resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and target criminal organizations.

“The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.”

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Cahuex-Martinez’s sentence after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other legal factors. Until sentencing is completed, Cahuex-Martinez will remain in custody with the United States Marshals Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen represented the government in this matter.
