A Guatemalan national, Julio Giron-Ramirez, 26, has been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer with a dangerous weapon following an incident in Oklahoma City. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

According to an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, on August 3, 2025, officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Giron-Ramirez. Authorities state that Giron-Ramirez did not comply with the order to stop and sped away. After ICE pursued him and tried another traffic stop, he allegedly rammed his vehicle into the front end of an ICE vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot. Law enforcement located and arrested him shortly after.

If convicted, Giron-Ramirez could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

“The public is reminded this charge is merely an allegation, and that Giron-Ramirez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” stated the press release.

The investigation involved ICE-ERO, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale is prosecuting the case.

The prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, which is a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration issues and targeting transnational criminal organizations as well as violent crime.

Reference can be made to public filings for further details about the case.
