Fort Gibson resident pleads guilty to bank fraud charge in federal court

Katrina Dawn McCroskey, a 52-year-old resident of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Apr. 28 to one count of bank fraud in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, McCroskey admitted to executing a scheme from January 2016 through February 28, 2023, to obtain funds and property from BancFirst by means of false and fraudulent pretenses. She used her position as office manager for a medical doctor without her employer’s authority as part of this scheme. The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

The plea was accepted by Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson, who ordered a presentence investigation report before sentencing is determined. McCroskey was released on bond pending sentencing. The case arose from an investigation conducted by the United States Secret Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Pippin represented the government during these proceedings.
