A Tulsa resident with a prior felony conviction was sentenced on Apr. 28 to over four years in prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition, according to U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge John D. Russell ordered Marcus Antonio Jones, age 46, to serve 51 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release after Jones was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In July 2025, police responded to an apartment where witnesses said Jones had been drinking and discharged a shotgun while others, including a juvenile, were present. Officers obtained a search warrant and found a 12-gauge shotgun, spent shell casing, and additional rounds of ammunition in Jones’s bedroom. Court records show that Jones has previous convictions for first-degree manslaughter as well as domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
Jones will remain detained until he is transferred to the custody of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The investigation involved the Tulsa Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Assistant U.S. Attorney Mallory Richard prosecuted the case.
