Eufaula man pleads guilty to second-degree murder in Indian Country

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that William Clayton Brown, a 42-year-old resident of Eufaula, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Indian Country. This charge carries a potential sentence of up to life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

According to the Information filed in court, Brown was accused of killing the victim with malice aforethought on September 15, 2017. The incident took place in McIntosh County within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation in Eastern Oklahoma.

The investigation into this crime was conducted by the Eufaula Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge David C. Joseph from the Western District of Louisiana, who is serving by assignment. A presentence investigation report has been ordered.

A U.S. District Court Judge will decide Brown’s sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors. Until sentencing, Brown will remain under the custody of the United States Marshals Service.
