Henry Tyler Allen, a 35-year-old resident of Durant, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement regarding the sentencing.
The charge resulted from investigations conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Durant Police Department. On January 7, 2025, Allen entered a guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigators reported that on September 24, 2024, officers found Allen with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol despite his previous conviction for a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The program was strengthened on May 26, 2021, with a strategy focusing on building community trust, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Allen will remain under the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated facility within the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Gross represented the government in this case.
