Durant man pleads guilty to illegal possession of ammunition

Billy Ray St. Clair, a 25-year-old resident of Durant, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to the indictment, St. Clair knowingly possessed 18 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition on January 14, 2025. At the time, he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Durant Police Department.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted St. Clair’s plea and ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after considering federal sentencing guidelines and other legal factors.

St. Clair is currently held by the United States Marshals Service as he awaits sentencing.
