Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced on March 16 a settlement with Script Care, Ltd. following a review of the company’s pharmacy audit practices in Oklahoma.
The settlement comes after the Attorney General’s Office examined 27 audits involving 24 pharmacies in Script Care’s network. The review found that more than $38,000 had been improperly recouped during these audits under the Pharmacy Audit Integrity Act and the Patient’s Right to Pharmacy Choice Act. The matter was resolved without any admission of liability from Script Care.
Under the agreement, Script Care will pay $135,000. Of this amount, $91,969 will be distributed to affected pharmacies and about $43,000 will be retained by the Attorney General’s Office for investigation costs, legal expenses, and ongoing oversight of the agreement.
“Oklahoma pharmacies are entitled to fair and lawful audit practices,” said Drummond. “When concerns are raised, we take them seriously and act accordingly. This settlement ensures accountability while reinforcing the standards set by Oklahoma law.”
Script Care President Kevin Brown said, “We appreciate the constructive and professional dialogue with the Attorney General’s Office and the opportunity to resolve this matter. While Script Care believes its practices have been consistent with applicable law, we are pleased to put this issue behind us and remain focused on serving Oklahoma pharmacies with transparency, collaboration, and a commitment to supporting patient access to care.”
Deputy Attorney General Michael T. Leake Jr., Director of the PBM Compliance and Enforcement Unit, along with Assistant Attorney General Hallie Bovos who led the review, said that Script Care cooperated fully throughout a thorough examination of multiple audits and pharmacy records.
