Kevin Carter Kieckhefer, a 35-year-old resident of Tupelo, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition. The charge carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

The indictment against Kieckhefer alleged that he knowingly possessed 25 rounds of .223 ammunition on July 19, 2023. This was after he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.

The investigation leading to this charge involved the Coal County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Kieckhefer’s plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report will be completed as part of the sentencing process.

A U.S. District Court Judge will decide Kieckhefer’s sentence based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Until sentencing is finalized, Kieckhefer remains in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dak T. Cohen and Lewis M. Reagan are representing the United States in this case.
