Choctaw County man pleads guilty to federal firearm charge

Jimmy Dale Kelley, also known as Jimmy Dale Kelly and Jimmy Dale Robinson, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The 37-year-old resident of Grant, Oklahoma, admitted to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The Superseding Indictment alleged that on August 9, 2024, Kelley was found with a revolver and five rounds of spent ammunition. This occurred after he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Kelley’s guilty plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.

Kelley is currently out on bond under specific conditions until sentencing takes place. The prosecution in this case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker.

Alabama resident pleads guilty to armed assaults and transporting stolen vehicle in Oklahoma

Jason Paul New has pleaded guilty to armed assaults and transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines. The crimes occurred within the Choctaw Nation Reservation in Oklahoma. Sentencing will follow completion of an investigation report.
