A federal jury has found Ronnie Allen Barton, a 48-year-old man from Canadian County, guilty of multiple charges related to child exploitation. The verdict was announced by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Barton faced a four-count indictment issued by a federal Grand Jury on February 20, 2025. He was charged with two counts of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, one count of committing a sex offense as a registered sex offender, and one count of attempted receipt of child pornography. On June 17, 2025, the jury convicted him on all counts.
The trial revealed that in July 2024, an undercover FBI agent posted an online ad offering the opportunity to meet two fictitious underage girls for sexual purposes. Barton responded to the ad and requested pornographic images over several months. He later arranged to meet at an Oklahoma City motel for sexual acts with the fictitious children but was arrested outside the motel on January 24, 2025.
Public records show Barton is a registered sex offender due to a previous felony conviction in Canadian County District Court in 2018 for lewd acts or indecent proposals.
Barton faces a minimum sentence of 20 years up to life in federal prison and could be fined up to $250,000.
The case resulted from an investigation by the FBI’s Oklahoma City Field Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elizabeth Joynes and Brandon Hale.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. PSC involves collaboration among federal, state, and local resources to apprehend offenders who exploit children via the Internet and rescue victims.
