A Bolivian national living in Tulsa has been charged with crimes related to child sexual abuse material. Vismar Erick Atahuichi Alanoca, 39, faces charges of receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received three reports from Facebook about images that appeared to be child sexual abuse material being uploaded and shared by a user. According to court documents, a search warrant led agents to discover that Alanoca had such material in his possession, including content involving a prepubescent child. It is also alleged that Alanoca communicated with another Facebook user to request additional child sexual abuse material.

During the investigation, authorities found that Alanoca is listed as a wanted fugitive by INTERPOL. The listing describes him as having violent tendencies, being an escape risk, and identifies him as a sexually violent predator who is considered a sex offender involving minors.

Homeland Security Investigations is handling the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Robert is prosecuting.

“A criminal complaint is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child exploitation and abuse through coordinated federal, state, and local efforts. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at Justice.gov/PSC.
