Attorney General Gentner Drummond has expressed support for President Trump’s nomination of U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

In a statement released on March 5, Drummond said: “Sen. Mullin is an inspired and excellent pick by President Trump to serve as his Cabinet Secretary of Homeland Security. The President knows what Oklahomans know, that Markwayne is exactly the sort of straight-talking, stalwart, and commonsense patriot needed to lead the Department of Homeland Security at this juncture. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and of three critical subcommittees, including the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, Markwayne is extremely well-versed on matters of national security and will always act in the best interests of Americans. I have the utmost confidence in Sen. Mullin and wish him the best upon this extraordinary next chapter. Oklahoma’s loss is the nation’s gain.”

Drummond leads the Oklahoma Attorney General’s office, which focuses on combating crime, ensuring government transparency, strengthening tribal relations, and upholding the rule of law, according to his official biography. He brings extensive legal experience to his role and oversees public legal and governmental services in Oklahoma.

The office also works with state and federal partners to address organized crime according to its official biography. Additionally, it advocates for policies supporting sectors such as energy and education while promoting tougher laws against crimes like rape and drug distribution as outlined in its mission.

Drummond’s endorsement highlights his confidence in Mullin’s qualifications for national security leadership.
